In short: the FineEQ app has no user accounts, sends us no usage data, and keeps every sound setting on your computer. The app only contacts us about Premium: a one-way hashed machine ID to count the trial, and your key and computer name when you enter a key. We keep purchase details only when you buy Premium, and only what is needed.
What the app keeps on your computer
The app saves its settings in your Windows user folder on your computer only: presets, adjustments, shortcuts and the audio devices you set up separately. None of this leaves your computer.
The app has no usage statistics, no ads and no crash reporting back to us.
When the app goes online
The app connects to the internet only in these cases.
- The trial and Premium keys. The app sends a machine ID to our server. It is made from the Windows machine ID (MachineGuid) passed through SHA-256, so it cannot be turned back into the original and does not say whose computer it is. We keep it with the trial's start date and the last time the app was opened, so each computer gets one trial even after reinstalling, and to count how many computers use the app. When you enter a key, the app sends the key, the machine ID and the computer's name, so you can see which computers use a key once it reaches its limit.
- Checking for updates. The app reads the newest version from GitHub Releases and downloads the installer from there when you choose to update.
As with any download, GitHub sees your IP address under GitHub's privacy policy. We do not receive it.
